From the Corner Office
Dear
Fellow SCAFP Members:
Your new board is reaching out to all members and asking for
your help in accomplishing three major goals:
1) Increase Monthly
Attendance. Not
only do you receive CTP credits and have a great opportunity to network with
fellow professionals, but your presence shows our guest speakers that the
SCAFP membership supports its monthly programs. It is through your support
that we attract speakers with the expertise we need to bring to our
association.
2) Increase corporate
membership. For
all our corporate practitioners, please invite other corporate practitioners
to attend a meeting. For our banker friends, we have brochures available for
you to hand out to your corporate clients. Not only does it help your
corporate clients, it makes you look good to your prospects and clients.
3) Participate.
We have several committees that are looking for help.
Putting on our Annual LA Expo is very important to Janine Debban, our Major
Events Chairperson. Janine is looking for committee members to help select
speakers for our annual event. You can contact Janine at
818-704-2321. When we all
dedicate an hour or two a month to a committee, not only does it makes the job
a lot easier, but you will find it is a very rewarding experience. Below are
the chairpersons for our committees. Contact them today.

EXPO
L.A. Symposium 2007 |
|
This year's
EXPO will be held at the Pasadena
Conference
Center. Mark the dates on your calendar - May 10-11, 2007.
Why should you attend EXPO
L.A. Symposium 2007?
EXPO L.A.
Symposium 2007 takes place on a regional stage with a national cast of highly
experienced experts. The Symposium features four tracks running concurrently
over two days for a total of 26 different presentations. You are welcome to
attend sessions on numerous topics, or just focus on a few that are of interest
to you. EXPO L.A. Symposium 2007 is local and reasonably priced, which means
that attending the event will be easy on your budget.
Why is EXPO L.A. Symposium
2007 such a good value?
EXPO L.A.
Symposium 2007 is produced by the members of SCAFP. It is priced to be
affordable for its members and the general public, especially compared to
attending national conferences that incur additional expenses for travel and
hotel accommodations. Five or more employees of the same firm, registering as a
group, qualify for the Member Rate. |

Federal Reserve Tour
The tour will
cover the Cash and Check Processing operations areas along with a
newly-installed lobby exhibit, "Fed Gallery: Your Central Bank in Focus," which
uses interactive technology and vivid graphics to highlight the Federal
Reserve’s role in the American economy. Various displays focus on cash and check
operations, bank supervision, and monetary policy. The gallery includes a
"pachinko" style game in which the participant rates the safety and soundness of
a particular financial institution, a money wheel that asks visitors to identify
counterfeit notes; and a currency display featuring historic and rare notes.

LLC. Regulus is the largest, independent payment processor with national
collection coverage, uniting the entire billing and collection cycle under one

RECAP OF WINERY TOUR
OCTOBER 2006 |
|
SCAFP
members had an amazing tour of the only wine producing facility in Los Angeles.
Santo Cambianica founded the San Antonio Winery on Lamar St in 1917. In 1920,
during Prohibition when most of the Los Angeles wineries were closed, San
Antonio winery was able to survive by making wine for the Catholic Church. San
Antonio Winery continues to be the largest producer of wine for the Catholic
Church. The tour was enlightening with information on the history of winemaking
in LA. We also saw the redwood and stainless steel tanks, the oak barrels in the
cool fermenting cellars and the modern bottling facility. The tour ended with a
wonderful wine tasting. We would like to thank all the members who attended and
we hope to do more of these events in the future. Let us know of any events you
think would be of interest to our members.
